MY !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has a handy dandy app and bluetooth connectivity. On it, I can track things, like how much money I’ve saved riding versus driving a gas powered car. It also tracks how many pounds of CO2 I’ve conserved.

Let’s check in and see how good I’ve done since buying the bike in May.

Kinja'd!!!

Oh, look at that, I’ve saved $142 Million dollars in gas money. That’s pretty good! How did I achieve such a feat?

Kinja'd!!!

Oh, well, I’ve driven 712,477 miles. Which is easy when you can go 7,311 miles on only 33% of a full charge. I’M A HYPER MILER BADASS

Actually, it seems I’ve gone significantly further than that. Based on the “money saved” calculation, I’m easily over a billion miles , which correlates since the odometer no longer counts up, just the trip meter. It is in awe of my awesome velocities.

Come to think of it, there maaaaay be something wrong with my odometer.

Call Guinness quick before you have that fixed... um I mean before that world-record-holding electric vehicle dies!

Probably a misaligned speed sensor that is picking up a ton of false readings.

It went from normal to off the rails in a single parked 2 hour period. My guess is there is a breakdown in communication bewteen the dash controller and the ECU.

The trip counter counts normally, it just took a massive jump while powered down.

Forget guiness. I’m just glad I have real world evidence to show my kids when they ask how Santa gets around the world in one night.

He follows me.

Ahh, so unlike my Corvair which has done -0.5 miles in the last two years despite doing 2MPH 24/7/365 (even while it’s drivetrain is currently on the ground until I get some specialty tools to work on the diff)

Having ridden that many miles, your ass must be made of diamond by now.

Buggy software aside, what is the long-term ownership experience like with an electric bike? How is your battery pack holding up?

Wait what? Your corvair is just spinning it’s tires in the air? Or you mean your speedometer is reading 2mph?

Speedometer repair hasn’t been on the top of my todo list for the car.

So far, everything’s great. The battery pack hasn’t lost any noticeable capacity yet. Now that it’s significantly colder, it’s harder to track, as that cuts the capacity down quite a bit.

I guess I won’t know until Spring.

I think a denominator somewhere may be approaching zero.

Unrelated, does it wheely well?

Without a clutch, it takes a different technique to wheely. You need to get above the ‘max torque’s threshold, as it limits it below about 15mph, then jam the rear brake briefly as you give it full throttle.

It takes some getting use to, and I mostly avoid it on city streets.

You are the asymptote! You shall approach infinity, so says the prophecy! In all seriousness though, how do you find the FXS? I was considering getting one

I would imagine it might also benefit from some bicycle wheelie technique, ie compress front suspension, then shift weight way back, and give throttle. It might make it take less throttle to get started. I don’t know much about motorcycles though, just human powered bikes.
